Getting lots of coupons, on the cheap.

When I start talking about couponing, the first question I get is, where do you get your coupons? Well one good source is All You magazine They have lots of high value coupons. It's geared towards women and mothers, but until Bikinis Quarterly starts including coupons, I doubt I'll find my perfect magazine.

Amazon.com is currently promoting their magazine store to the tune of $10 in Amazon.com credit wyb $30 in magazines. A 2 year subscription to All You currently costs $34. The $10 credit knocks it down to $1/issue... and they usually publish anywhere from $20-$150 in coupons per issue.

There are some rules and restrictions to the credit. I suggest you look them over here. A direct link to the magazine can be found here.

It might also be worth your while to take a look at the deals going on at Amazon.com. Apparently no one told them that Black Friday starts on Friday. You can see their current specials here.

Black Friday ads

We're under a week away from some of the best sales of the year. Hopefully you've been watching for great deals. If you haven't, take a look at BFAds.net. They have ad scans and summaries for the weekend sales of most of the major retailers.

Many retailers are pushing sales all November, so it might be worth your while to look at the ads this weekend as well.

a few Black Friday items I'm going to try for:

Wal-Mart: Oster electric griddle. $9.97
Big Lots: Jazz 5 MP camorder, $18.88
Lowes: 13 amp table saw. $59

Many retailers are allowing sale prices on their websites starting at midnight, so it's worth checking, unless you enjoy waiting in line all Thanksgiving day...

Turkey deals and a random tirade.

Thanksgiving is coming and for most of us that means turkey. So far I've found 2 good deals for turkey.

Kroger has Jennie-O turkeys for $0.57/lb until the end of the day Wednesday. Limit 2.
Wal-Mart has them for $0.58/lb. Not sure how long it will last, but I didn't see any limits in the store.
Wal-Mart also has Honeysuckle turkeys for $0.88/lb, which I found tempting, but in the end, not worth the extra $6 for a sugar-injected bird.

At any rate, I'm doing my best to make room in our freezers. This is a great price on any bone-in meat and I want to stock up while I can. Turkey is not just for Thanksgiving around here...

I also picked up trash bags while I was out, and I'm now on a mission to stock up on these at the lowest possible price. There's no reason for a bit of extruded plastic to cost so much. Last week I bought boxes upon boxes of Stove Top for $0.25 each. The same price as ONE trash bag. grrrr.

Don't even get me started on toilet paper either.

Pet supplies

A couple good pet supply deals I'm taking advantage of today:

The first is a deal made in heaven for The Coupon Rat's mascot, Risotto. Speck's Pet supply has big bags (60L) of CareFresh bedding for $13.99. This is about $10 off the normal price if I recall. The next best price I've seen is at PetCo.com, for about $15/bag but you need to buy 3 bags to get free shipping. Either way, Speck's has a good deal to stock up on. Bedding won't go bad as long as it is kept cool and dry. If you are still using cedar or pine chips, please switch to a better bedding. Your little fuzzbutt will appreciate it.

The second deal that caught my eye was Bil-Jac dog food at PetCo. Normally $45 for a 30 pound bag; PetCo is advertising $7 off. I'm about to head to PetCo and see if it's worth picking up a couple bags (or if they even carry it at my store).

awesome for the week

It looks like Kroger will be continuing last week's sale. Zero points for originality.

One notable difference, Jenni-O turkeys will be $0.57/lb this week. I knew this would happen as soon as I filled my chest freezer back up.

Tide at Kroger ends 11/3/10

I know it's been forever since I've posted, but there all that many spectacular deals lately. One worth mentioning, however, is Tide at Kroger. The 32 load bottles are normally $7.99. With your plus card they are $5.99. Buy 2 and get an additional $2 off at the register. Check the P&G insert from 10/31 for $1/1 any Tide and bring the price down to $3.99 each, a little better than 50% off! The last day of the sale is Wednesday, so don't dawdle.

While you're there, Kroger has half gallons of milk for $0.88/ea and medium eggs for $0.50/doz. Medium eggs can be used as large eggs for the most part. If your recipe calls for a lot of eggs, here's a handy conversion: 4 jumbo eggs = 5 large eggs = 6 medium eggs = 7 small eggs = 1 cup (250 mL) yolks and whites.
